After seven games played as a professional, Palmeiras confirm that Endrick has been negotiated with Real Madrid. President Leila Pereira declared that the deal was the biggest in the history of Brazilian football, however, without mentioning numbers.
Various media outlets are informing the total value of the negotiation to be 72 million euros, including taxes, bonuses and commissions. The payments would be divided in a fixed amount of 35 million euros and a variable of 25 million euros, with the remaining 12 million euros being destined for payment of Spanish taxes.
The negotiation more than doubled the value of Gabriel Jesus’ transfer to Manchester City, then the biggest Palmeiras had ever made (32 million euros).
The sensations caused by the negotiation are bittersweet. On one side, the amount of money is overwhelming (at least in a Brazilian context). On the other hand, Endrick will probably go to Madrid before achieving one hundred games for Palmeiras.
Selling the best players before they truly create a bond with club and supporters is not a problem exclusive to Palmeiras: the same happened with Rodrygo (Santos), Vinícius Júnior (Flamengo) and many others.
Endrick is only 16 years old, being the youngest to ever play (16 years, 2 months, 15 days) and score (16 years, 3 months, 4 days) for Palmeiras. He will join Real Madrid only in July 2024, after turning 18. At least we have another year and a half to enjoy his goals before he leaves.
