Palmeiras played very well, trashing another opponent, then very bad, suffering the first defeat of the year. The first signing of the season happened. And the team will have a full week of training.
Palmeiras 4×0 Oeste
Playing with a modified starting-eleven (Felipe Melo, Gabriel Menino, Dudu and Luiz Adriano were spared), Palmeiras had a flawless night against Oeste. The offensive line-up paid off and Scarpa, from the penalty spot, and Willian, with a hat-trick, scored the goals.
Red Bull Bragantino 2×1 Palmeiras
After such inspiring performance against Oeste, Palmeiras oscillated against Red Bull Bragantino, with an exhibition in the first half that shall never happen again. The home team took advantage of the spaces given by our defense to score twice. Dudu, from the penalty spot, decreased Red Bull’s lead in the second half, but it was not possible to avoid the first defeat in the year.
Matías Viña
The best player of the Uruguayan Championship is the first signing for Palmeiras in 2020. Matías Viña is a 22 years-old left-back, who recently debutted for the National Team of his country. Reactions of the supporters of Nacional, his previous team, indicate that he will be very much missed. It seems that the problem of the left-back is solved.
Training Week
Palmeiras’ next game takes place on February 8th against Ponte Preta. Luxemburgo will have a full week of training to put his ideas into practice and make some adjustments to avoid a performance like the one in the first half against Bragantino. The newcomer Matías Viña is expected to join the sessions.
