Sonar pings #123 – headlines all the way

The last couple of days have brought plenty of big news to the Academia de Futebol.

Globo
Palmeiras and Globo reached an agreement over the broadcasting rights on open TV and pay-per-view. The contract is valid for the next six years and Palmeiras saw almost all of their requests attended. The deal secures at least an additional R$ 100 million (US$ 25 million) a year to Palmeiras’ safe box.

Ricardo Goulart
goulartOut of the blue, news about Ricardo Goulart return to China erupted. Goulart, announced as the biggest transfer of the year for Palmeiras, leaves the club after 12 games, 4 goals and 2 injuries. The people at Guangzhou Evergrande offered the player a 5-year deal, doubled his salary and will reimburse Palmeiras all expenses related to the period the players was in Brazil. Impossible to refuse.

Ivan Angulo is a Colombian forward that plays for Palmeiras’ U20 team. He is currently with the Colombian national team, disputing the U20 World Cup. In the first game of the competition, the kid impressed everybody scoring a goal and destroying Poland’s defensive line. His current deal is a loan and if Palmeiras want him to stay, there is a US$ 3 million fee to be paid by the end of the year. Seems like a no-brainer.

Dudu

The Little Giant mentioned he is proud of being an important name in Palmeiras’ history, spoke about his relation with idols like Ademir da Guia and Dudu (the “original”) and said there is no problem in not being chosen for the national team.
