The unbeaten sequence just got larger and yet, palmeirenses around the world are venting their frustrations after another poor performance by the team. Despite going through August without losing a single game and beginning September in the same fashion, Palmeiras rarely get the three points: in the Brazilian League, yesterday’s draw was the fourth in six games. Luxemburgo is starting to feel the heat.
Albeit playing against the current leader of the Brasileirão, the result was not what palmeirenses were expecting. That being said: after Internacional’s very late goal at the Allianz Parque, coming back and snatch a point against a team that looks like a strong title contender was important.
Line-up
Weverton; Mayke, Luan, Gustavo Gómez and Viña (Diogo Barbosa); Patrick de Paula, Bruno Henrique (Wesley) and Gabriel Menino (Rony); Lucas Lima (Willian), Zé Rafael (Ramires) and Luiz Adriano.
Zé Rafael, Luan and Lucas Lima received yellow cards. Luan misses the next match.
Green light
We still have the chance to win the Brazilian League without losing a single game…
Yellow light
Our defense seems very solid and Weverton goes through most of the games without much to do. However, another individual mistake in the dying minutes of the game concedes the opponent a golden opportunity to score. Many can question the decision of the referee to award the penalty, but Luan can’t fumble like that inside the box.
Red light
Despite Internacional being a tough opponent, Palmeiras again showed an innocuous attack. The only shot on target happened on stoppage time of the second half, when Palmeiras, behind on the score, went all in and saw an unlikely cross by Gustavo Gómez find Luiz Adriano in the box to firmly head the ball and declare the equalizer.
Next Challenge
Palmeiras goes to the interior of São Paulo to face Red Bull Bragantino this upcoming Sunday. Bragantino is one of two teams that managed to beat Palmeiras in the São Paulo state Championship, however they are now parked in the relegation zone of the Brazilian League; a victory is crucial to build momentum ahead of next Wednesday’s derby against Corinthians.

We express our deepest sympathy to the families whose loved ones have been taken by the disease.
