In a 9-0 verdict, the Brazilian Superior Tribunal of Sports this afternoon rejected Botafogo’s (to be frank, completely absurd) claim for a rematch against Palmeiras, maintaining the 0-1 result from the clash in Brasília’s Mané Garrincha stadium on 25 May for the 6th round of the Brasileirão.
The decision formally returns to Palmeiras the three points withheld, extending the lead to runners-up Santos to five points and to Flamengo to eight points. Full tables below.
With 29 rounds to go of the Brazilian Championship, the competition restarts on 13 July, after the Copa América break.
