Sonar pings #54

Sorry for the infrequent updates. At least, it’s somewhat an indication of thing running more smoothly at Palmeiras lately. The weekly – sometimes daily – scandals are *knock-knock* something of the past.

Another reason for the relative silence is personal: a fierce but thankfully temporary lack of time. In a week of two things should improve.

So, what’s been going down lately?

Last Sunday, Palmeiras beat Barbarense 1-0 in the ninth round of the São Paulo championship, propelling the team to a fifth position three points behind leaders São Paulo. The author of the goal was recently arrived striker Leandro, who came on late in the second half.

Midfielder Patrik has left for Gangwon, South Korea.

20 players has travelled to Assunção to face group leader Libertad tonight (Thursday) in the Libertadores Cup: keepers Fernando Prass and Bruno; lateral defenders Juninho, Marcelo Oliveira and Welder; centre-backs Maurício Ramos, Henrique, Leandro Amaro (!) and Vilson; defensive midfielders Márcio Araújo, Souza, João Denoni and Charles, playmakers Valdivia, Patrik Vieira and Wesley; strikers Vinícius, Kleber, Caio and Maikon Leite. Expect to see Kleber debuting in the second half. Libertad are a strong team and currently sustain a 16 games undefeated run at home. A draw would be a great result for Palmeiras.

Scoppia che la vittoria è nostra!
