This coming 26th of August marks Palmeiras’ 96th birthday. And ever since 2006 – as a result of an initiative by the palmeirense Marcelo Santa Vicca – the date is commemorated en masse, with Palmeiras supporters everywhere proudly branding their team jerseys in numbers so impressive that the phenomena has become known as The Green Tsunami, O Tsunami Verde.
