Felipão opted for a very alternative line-up against CSA, but the gamble did not pay off this time: drawing in Alagoas, Palmeiras fiddled away their first points in the Brazilian Championship against a team that will probably be relegated at season’s end.

Raphael Veiga scored the opener in the 9th minute. CSA equalised through Matheus Sávio in the 63rd. Palmeiras’ first half was much better than the second, when fatigue kicked in due to the high temperatures and tall grass at the Rei Pelé stadium.

Line-up
Jailson; Mayke, Antônio Carlos, Edu Dracena and Victor Luis; Thiago Santos, Moisés (Matheus Fernandes); Lucas Lima and Hyoran (Felipe Pires); Raphael Veiga (Carlos Eduardo) and Deyverson.

Green light
Raphael Veiga and Hyoran seized their opportunity as starters and were responsible for most of the scoring chances created. Both can prove good options for Felipão, as Felipe Pires and Carlos Eduardo are struggling right now.

Yellow light
TV Palmeiras’s radio broadcast started 15 minutes after kick-off; supporters missed Raphael Veiga’s goal. Pathetic and never to be repeated.

Red light
Deyverson needs to think before speaking during interviews. Asked about the result, he said he did not know why the opponents were celebrating the draw, since CSA were playing at home and had the obligation to win. Deyverson frequently creates unnecessary controversy. Now, to be frank: is it fair of us to ask him to think?

History
CSA was Scolari’s last club as a player and first club as a coach. In Alagoas, he won a state Championship, his only title as a player. The club paid tribute to the coach, presenting him with a commemorative plate.

Next challenge
Internacional, at the Allianz Parque, on Saturday 4 May. Inter, considered one of the title contenders, lost to Chapecoense in the first round before yesterday beating Flamengo 2-1. Felipão is likely to promote his strongest available side, seeking to guarantee the 15th consecutive home victory in the Brazilian Championship.
